Overview
I am a fully funded PhD researcher in the School of Healthcare Science with a background in physiotherapy, specialising in spinal rehabilitation. With over 13 years of experience in both academic and clinical settings, my work has primarily focused on the management of persistent low back pain. My interest has grown in the field of Pain science and conservative pain management.
My doctoral research explores the impact of immersive virtual reality as a technology-based rehabilitation approach for persistent lower back pain. Specifically, I am investigating how embodiment-based and distraction-based immersive VR influences persistent pain and endogenous pain modulatory systems.
I am passionate about leveraging innovative technologies to enhance non-pharmacological pain management strategies. Through my research, I aim to bridge the gap between technology-based interventions and physiotherapy, ultimately improving rehabilitation outcomes for individuals with persistent musculoskeletal pain.
