Overview

I joined the research community at Cardiff University as a full-time postgraduate researcher in October 2022. Concerned with the question of Nihilism, I am supervised by Dr Patrick Hassan and benefit from his expertise on Nietzsche, Nihilism and the related philosophical tradition of Pessimism.

Employing hermeneutic phenomenology and genealogy, my project articulates Nihilism as the historical development of an increasingly prevalent existential condition. I then argue for the incorporation of this understanding of Nihilism into existential therapeutic practice alongside the existing therapeutic applications of other central themes in existential philosophy.

Research themes:

- Nietzsche and Nihilism
- Heidegger, Gadamer, Hermeneutical phenomenology
- History of psychiatry
- Existential therapeutics

Beyond my current project, my philosophical interests lie in post-Kantian continental philosophy. I am particularly interested in the work of Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger, De Beauvoir, Dastur and Irigaray

I am always happy to talk about my project, or talk about the philosophical interests of others. Please feel free to contact me with questions, comments or advice!
