Mr Guillermo Comesana Cimadevila

Overview

I am a PhD student at the MRC Centre for Neuropsychiatric Genetics and Genomics and the UK Dementia Research Institute, funded by Hodge. I have a background in Computational and Quantitative Biology from the University of Surrey and the University of Bath; thus, my expertise lies at the interface of data science, bioinformatics and genomics.

My PhD research focuses on investigating shared genetic components between neurodegeneration and neuropsychiatric disorders. This includes:

• Developing bioinformatics pipelines across multiple omics layers
• Applying deep learning approaches to improve psychosis prediction 

I maintain ongoing academic collaborations where I am currently applying multi-horizon forecasting and causal machine learning methods to model symptom trajectories and treatment-effect prediction in pernicious anaemia, as well as developing self-supervised approaches for temporal representation learning in spatiotemporal imaging and cell-event detection.
