My ongoing PhD thesis focuses on the global dissemination of Japanese martial arts especially kendo, swordsmanship, I ask questions include but not limited to why people practice martial arts, how does media representations of martial arts such as films, Television series, games, social medias, etc. affect the overall popularity of martial arts.
Teaching
I taught two undergraduate modules at JOMEC, MC1110 The History of Mass Communication and Culture and MC1114 Media Audiences. I am also a reviewer and editorial assistant of Martial Arts Studies Journal and Co-Editor-in-Chief of IPICS(Intersectional Perspectives: Identity, Culture, Society.
