Overview

I am a part-time doctoral candidate, and my thesis concerns the development of Welsh erotic poetry in the Middle Ages, from the earliest poetry to women in the Age of the Princes to the prevalence of bawdier lyrics into the 16th century. The research of the poet-lover personae and the portrayal of their beloveds is framed within the theories of the 'male gaze' and 'gender performativity,' with a light comparative consideration of other contemporary love traditions.
