Thesis

'Objectifying’ Medieval Women: Gendered Storytelling from National Collections

Harnessing my background in medieval archaeology and museum collections, my research aims to reveal late medieval women’s lives through archaeological material in national museum collections, namely the British Museum, the National Museum of Scotland, and the National Museum of Wales.

This project has been fully funded by the South, West, and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership, jointly supervised by the University of Reading and the University of Cardiff.

I hold a MA in Medieval History and Archaeology from the University of St Andrews and an MSc in Medieval Archaeology from the University of Oxford. I have worked in collection management since 2021, first at the British Museum and now at London Museum. Prior to this, I worked as an Assistant Supervisor for the Bamburgh Research Project. This work inspired my MSc dissertation: A Study of Everyday Material Culture from Royal Site of Bamburgh Castle, c. 700-1500. I also currently serve on the committee for the London Society for Medieval Studies.
