Overview
After 10 years working in video production, I returned to academia to merge my skills as a video ethnographer and documentary filmmaker with academic research. As a female cyclist myself, I am keen to explore how alternative femininities and masculinities are constructed through physical movements. To this end, I am developing innovative video methods to gain deeper and more nuanced insights into embodied and affective knowledge and expanding the possibility of video-ethnography.

Racing Whilst Female: an exploration of gendered identities through movements with experimental video-ethnography
My PhD research employs innovative video methods as a key methodological approach to explore how gendered identities are actualized through movement in the context of cycling. The study spans the experiences of elderly female cyclists as well as female racers in Wales and Portugal.
