Research
My interests lie in the varied ways geochemical techniques can be applied to biogenic marine carbonate archives to reveal more about the complex ways that different components of the climate system interact with one another.
My current research is looking at preservation of benthic foraminifera during the Early Eocene Climatic Optimum at a range of locations with different local characteristics. To do this I combine EPMA analyses of individual foraminfera with solution-based trace element analysis by ICP-MS. I'm also seeing what trace metal ratios of planktic foraminifera at the Eocene Oligocene Transition can tell us about water mass changes during this globally significant climate shift.
