Overview

Before beginning my PhD, I worked in the transport sector. Most recently within a policy team, advising industry partners and policymakers across the UK and Europe. Before this, I worked in Wales, supporting Welsh ministers, politicians and senior leaders in the transport sector.

I am interested in the impact transport has on our lives, especially in the ways that transport (in)accessibility relates to (in)justice. I see policy as a core mechanism in addressing this. I’m especially interested in active travel as an open-access, zero carbon transport mode.

My research draws on my experiences in professional practice, where I observed that transport policy sometimes backgrounds the human experience. My research considers the value of applying cultural Geography ideas, specifically theories of embodiment, to transport policy. My focus is on walking policy in Wales.

My research is funded by the ESRC through WGSSS.
