Since October 2024, I am a full time Doctoral Researcher in English Literature at Cardiff University and University of Bristol. This project is fully funded by the SWW-DTP2 studentship and thus, I am priviliged to be under the supervision of Dr. Radhika Mohanram and Dr. Madhu Krishnan.
My PhD dissertation deals with the reconstruction of cultural memory in Post-War Sri Lankan literature, focussing on the spectral aspect of literature with respect to the violence ensued.
Alongside my PhD, I am also a Graduate Tutor for ENCAP
Research Themes:

Research
My thesis argues that the literary production of Post-War era has to be seen as an assemblage of various aspects such as the spectres to memorialise the conflict and lingering trauma, position the geopolitical realities of Sri Lanka in the present time, and reconstructing cultural memory. Drawing on a wide range of sources, including novels, poetry, photographic and newspaper archives, journalistic articles and interviews, this research will demonstrate how the post war interstitial spaces deconstruct the idea of memory which subsists within the cultural framework of Sri Lanka. Deploying literary and cultural criticism, my aim is to undertake an exploratory study of how the cultural memory of Sri Lanka has been reconstructing after the brutal civil war that tore apart the country for decades. The medium of my exploration is post-war Anglophone literature and the authors’ (un)intentional use of spectres in their works which leads to the literature itself becoming ‘spectral’ in nature. Due to the complexity of the reconstruction of cultural memory, my thesis will focus on the textual (the primary text and the secondary critical material), sociological (the collective sensibilities of a group with respect to the political landscape), and experiential (the conscious experience of people) areas.
