Overview
Veronica is an architect and social scientist with a background in design research and practice. With experience at firms like Legorreta and IQ Real Estate, she transitioned from architecture to project management. She also held consultancy roles with UNDP and the Mexican Government in the Interoceanic Corridor of the Tehuantepec Isthmus, a national-priority regional development project.
As a research assistant at Universidad Iberoamericana, Veronica contributed to the Department of Territorial Dynamics and Wellbeing in better understanding the role that the built environment plays in the assessment of subjective wellbeing. During her Ph.D., she collaborated with civil associations to address house design needs for internally displaced communities, focusing on understanding people's perceptions of habitability. From 2020 to 2021 she joined the international research project "PIVOT - Revisioning Peripheral Geographies," led by Anglia University and funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK.
Currently a Research Associate at Cardiff University, she contributes to the Arts and Humanities Research Council funded Green Transitions Ecosystems project "Transforming Housing and homes for Future Generations," emphasizing Connection, Collaboration, and Communication. Veronica is dedicated to broadening her research scope in housing, architectural and urban habitability, subjective wellbeing, and enhancing people's quality of life through informed design, projects, and policies.
