Overview

My research interests concern how we interact with technology, what this reveals about our behaviour and personality, and how to apply Artificial Intelligence for social benefit. I am the Director of the Centre for Social Care and Artificial intelligence Learning (SCALE), an interdisciplinary project aiming to use AI to transform social care in the UK.

Research

My research covers areas in artificial intelligence, mobile and social computing, including:

  • Applying AI techniques to address challenges in Social Care.
  • Understanding the role of human behaviour in our use of technology.
  • Information dissemination in social newtorks and pervasive communication technologies, based on models of human behavior and mobility.
  • Developing detailed mathematical models and metrics to represent the diverse technical and economical constraints and objectives of wireless networks.
  • Developing metaheuristic algorithms to select and configure network infrastructure.

Teaching

My teaching introduces Python, algorithms and discrete maths.
