Research
My research interests are in radiography & healthcare research, workforce development & service delivery and general clinical imaging research. I also have a research focus on policy and strategy for motivation for rural attraction/retention of workforce within remote/deprived areas. I have a keen interest in conducting research that spans multiple disciplines and would be delighted to explore the potential for collaboration and/or providing supervision for postgraduate students. My doctoral work focused on rural radiography practice: exploration of experiences of rural radiographers and my postgraduate taught research focused on work-related stress and coping mechanisms.
I am dedicated to incorporating research-based teaching methods and expanding the responsibilities of imaging professionals. I aim to utilise my extensive knowledge and expertise to motivate and educate the future generation of healthcare practitioners and researchers. I welcome enquiries from both UK and international candidates who are interested in pursuing postgraduate studies for a PhD at Cardiff University.
My other research interests are interventional radiography & other diagnostic imaging procedures, learning technology in Medical Imaging & machine learning and/or computed/simulation-based learning in radiography and healthcare education.
Teaching
I am currently the module lead for the DRI Level 4 (first year) Practice of Imaging module. I teach a variety of topics in the undergraduate and postgraduate Radiography programmes at the School of Healthcare Science.
My clinical role with Cardiff University is in partnership with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board & NHS Wales, providing clinical education (clinical tutorials and clinical assessments in the DRI undergraduate clinical practice modules) to radiographers within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board which is the local health board of NHS Wales for Gwent, in the South-East of Wales.
I am engaged in research supervision and provide guidance to students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I also have the responsibility of offering personal support and guidance as a tutor.
Biography
I am an academic & a clinical lecturer with the Diagnostic Radiography & Imaging team at Cardiff University. I am a module lead and the deputy Undergraduate admission tutor for Diagnostic Radiography & Imaging. I serve on a panel that monitors PhD student reviews, as well as participate in PhD student application processes and interviews.
I obtained my undergraduate certification from the University of Ghana (Diploma in Radiologic Technology - Diagnostic Radiography) and postgraduate degrees from Cardiff University (MSc Radiography) and (PhD Healthcare Studies). I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) which demonstrates my continuing professional development and professionalism in teaching and the support of student learning, as well as my desire to develop and promote excellence in education.
I explored rural radiography practice and experiences of radiographers in rural and deprived areas for my postgraduate research training and for my postgraduate taught studies, I focused on work-related stress and coping mechanisms. Prior to my postgraduate studies, I worked clinically as a diagnostic radiographer in some of Ghana's premium hospitals. I also worked in an academic role at the University of Ghana after my post-graduate taught training.
