Overview

I am a physicist with a background in silicon photonics and photonic crystals. At the Institute I am investigating some of the alternatives to silicon, with the aim of establishing methods to produce quantum photonic devices in compound semiconductor photonic integrated circuits.

Biography

I have made a successful transition from theory and modelling (for my PhD), to micro-fabrication of photonic crystals, to ultrafast characterisation, developing the complete “food-chain” of skills for research in photonics.  I used these skills to join the Centre for Quantum Photonics in Bristol as a Marie Curie Fellow, where I researched integrated quantum photonics with the aim of building an components for an optical quantum computer using the toolset provided by silicon photonics.
