I am Programme Director of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)  in the Centre For Medical Education in the Medical School. I am an experienced Senior Lecturer having worked in Allied Health at another Institution as MSc Course Leader and MSc Module leader. I have interdisciplinary interests and have published many health related books, journal articles and conference papers and written a variety of continuing professional development seminars on nutritional topics.   I have a research interest in the role of narratives and accounts of lived experience in medical and healthcare professional education and am pursuing Phd by publication. I have contributed to TV and radio programmes including BBC 2's Trust Me I'm a Doctor, BBC news & Radio 4's today programme and Womens' Hour. Research interests include nutrition and infertility, pre-conceptual care, food allergies and intolerances, gluten, coeliac disease and mental health.








Research interests include coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity and their role in health and disease and also the impact of nutritional status on health. I am also interested in mental health, female health & psychosocial impacts, lived experience and stories/narratives.

I currently lead a module on the iBSc in Medical Education as well as inputting to the MBBCh in the area of nutritional support for gastrointestinal disorders and wound healing. I have also contributed to MSc in Tissue Viability and Wound Healing and the MSc in Pain Management and am involved in the development of the School of Medicine's Continuing Professional Development courses and modules; including the standalone modules in Genetic Medicine. I am an experienced higher education teacher  with a PgCert in HE with over fourteen years experience of teaching on MSc programmes and am a fellow of the higher education academy. I have also taught at BSc level and worked in adult education and as a training manager within business. I have experience of MSc programme design, revalidations and I have experience in both supporting and leading programme teams in delivering modules,and in online delivery using virtual learning environments.  I have led many different postgraduate modules as well as delivering elements of other modules and acting as a dissertation and clinical  Supervisor. I have acted as an external examiner and as a member of a professional body's accreditation committee. 


My work history features a mix of Director level business experience and academic experience. My first career after studying English at Leeds University was in advertising and marketing; I worked in agencies principally on brand development and strategic planning. After experiencing some issues with allergies, I retrained and became a nutritional therapist registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNCH) and a nutritionist registered with the British Association of Applied Nutrition and lifestyle Medicine (BANT). BANT made me a fellow in May of 2023. I am also on the editorial board of the Nutritional Medicine Institue Journal. I worked in private practice and on several community health projects in London before starting my academic career at the University of Worcester in January 2008.


I am a Public Engagement and Involvement Champion for the Centre of Medical Education in the School of Medicine.
