Teams and roles for Vogy Buanaputra

Overview

I am currently a Lecturer in Accounting at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. Prior to this role, I held an academic position at Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia. I also serve as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Essex, contributing to cross-institutional research and academic collaboration.

With over a decade of teaching experience across the UK and Indonesia, I have developed a strong foundation in accounting education and have worked extensively with both private and public sector organisations in Indonesia as an expert advisor. My research adopts a qualitative methodology, underpinned by social theory, and is primarily focused on public sector accounting, public budgeting, and public administration. I am particularly interested in interdisciplinary approaches that bridge theory and practice in governance and accountability.

In my current public service role, I have been appointed as Chairperson of the Public Sector Compartment within the Indonesian Governance Policy National Committee (Komite Nasional Kebijakan Governansi – KNKG) for a four-year term. In this capacity, I collaborate with distinguished colleagues from academia and professional practice to lead the oversight, dissemination, and enhancement of the Indonesian Public Sector Governance Code. This principle-based framework is designed to guide and improve governance practices across public sector organisations throughout Indonesia.

My scholarly work has been published in several high-impact international journals, including Accounting Forum (ABS 3*), Public Administration (ABS 4*), Cogent Business and Management (Scopus Q2), and the Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change (ABS 2*, Scopus Q2). I also contribute to the academic community as a reviewer for leading journals such as Financial Accountability & ManagementJournal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, and Business Strategy and the Environment.

Beyond academia, my research has informed policy development at both local and national levels in Indonesia, notably contributing to the Indonesian Public Sector Governance Guidance and Cooperative Governance Guidance. These initiatives were developed in close partnership with KNKG and reflect my commitment to research impact and public value.

I welcome opportunities to supervise PhD students, particularly those interested in public sector accounting, public management, and public administration within the context of emerging economies.
