Overview
I am a social scientist specialising in the social determinants of women’s health, with particular expertise in the physical and mental health consequences of domestic and sexual violence, public health interventions, and gendered health inequalities.
My interdisciplinary research portfolio focuses on applied research to improve health outcomes for women through timely, accurate diagnosis and trauma-informed care. I have methodological expertise in intervention research, including the development and evaluation of complex interventions to improve women's health using a variety of methods, such as experimental designs, outcome evaluations, and realist-informed process evaluation methodologies. I am also passionate about using creative and participatory approaches to involving those with lived experience in health research.
I have over £1m in research funding and extensive collaboration with health services, government and third sector organisations, and my research has made a significant contribution to knowledge and impact in relation to public health and gendered harms, publishing in high impact, prestigious journals such as The Lancet Public Health, Journal of Public Health, Journal of Gender-Based Violence and Violence Against Women.

Research
I am interested in advancing research on women's health, specifically in relation to early onset and lifelong conditions that disproportionately affect women or have specific considerations for care. I am also interested in Violence Against Women, Domestic and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) as a public health issue, and developing and evaluating interventions to improve the whole health response for survivors and improve long term health outcomes through trauma-informed care. Projects relating to this included 'A Cry For Health' and 'Health Pathfinder Evaluation', which both examined what worked to develop an effective whole health response for survivors of VAWDASV.
