Broadcast Lecturer
Overview
Kathryn Charles is a lecturer in MA Broadcast Journalism at the School of Journalism, Media and Culture.
Before joining the university, Kathryn was a Content Editor at ITV Cymru Wales for ten years where she reported, presented and programme edited the flagship daily news programme Wales at Six.
During her time at ITV, she covered multiple breaking news events in Wales including the Covid pandemic and the Brexit referendum, where she travelled overseas to produce a documentary on its impact.
In 2019, Kathryn became the digital editor overseeing ITV's online transformation growing audiences online including across its social media platforms.
She now work alongside Sali Collins on the Broadcast Journalism course (famously known as CJS) training the next crop of broadcast journalists to enter the industry.
Her interests lie in television news, Welsh affairs, online news writing and digital and social media.
