Teams and roles for Lucia Cowen

Overview

I commenced my PhD in 2021, funded by the AHRC via the South West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership and under the supervision of Professor Mark Llewellyn and Professor Kate Hext.

I have taught across a profusion of English Literature and Communication modules including within widening participation sectors. My experience includes leading seminars and guest lecturing for the third year module Decadent Men. I have been awarded FHEA in 2025.

My research focuses on decadence, gender, and play at the fin de siècle. In February 2026, my article 'Paget at Play', centred on the Fifth Marquis of Anglesey as a case study, was published in the journal of the Southampton Centre for Nineteenth-Century Research. I also have a forthcoming chapter in Oxford University Press’s Camp Screen Cultures.

Biography

I am an AHRC-funded PhD researcher in English Literature at Cardiff University. Prior to this, I obtained my MA in English Literature and BA English Literature from Cardiff University and have been awarded FHEA.
