Overview
I am a part-time doctoral candidate, and my thesis examines Middle English retellings of the classical myths of Ariadne, Medea, and Philomela by canonical male authors in the long fifteenth century. Specifically, my research considers modes of female resistance to male authority and how the expectations of the romance genre in particular shape Middle English classical retellings. I am interested in issues of voice, silencing, and the way old stories mutate across time and culture according to who is telling them.
Alongside my studies, I work for a toy company to fund my Very Expensive Hobby of participating in academia.
