Overview
I am a first-year PhD student researching the political ecology of tree-planting, with a particular focus on its connection to nation-building. Alongside my research, I contribute to undergraduate teaching within both the School of Modern Languages and the School of Law and Politics.
I have worked as a research assistant in various French academic institues (MICA, Les Afriques dans le Monde, the Emile Durkheim Centre, the FASOPO), where I applied both quantitative and qualitative methodologies to diverse topics such as banal nationalism, cultural diplomacy, media representation and migration policy.
I hold a BSc in Politics and an MSc in Social Science Research Methods from Cardiff University, as well as a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Sciences Po Bordeaux, all three achieved with first-class honors.
Research
In the context of the current climate emergency, I believe it is crucial to politicise environmental initiatives. My research focuses on how these initiatives - notably tree-planting ones - contribute to nation-building narratives at various levels of governance (local authorities, sub-states, states).
Previous research concentrated on migration studies, highlighted by a six-month ethnographic study of the Ukrainian solidarity movement in France. I am also a member of the COJEMI research group, investigating the media representation of unaccompanied minors in the French print press.
Teaching
I currently teach on the following undergraduate modules:
- National and Global Perspectives on France
- Introduction to International Relations
