Overview

The American Anti-Colonial Tradition and American Foreign Policy: 1961-1968

The focus of my research is on the American Anti-Colonial Tradition and how it impacted American foreign policy in the 1960s. My thesis will study how the process of British decolonisation particularly challenged American foreign policy. The case studies involved in this project will be: The West Indies Federation, Southern Rhodesia and Cyprus.

Overall, the purpose of this research is to add a major contribution to developing our understanding of the political traditions of the United States and how this affects its foreign policy.
