Overview
HEA Fellow since 2011
I am a lecturer in the School of Journalism, Media and Culture. I have a passion for learning and teaching and participate within the school at all levels. This has included formally leading our very successful MA International Public Relations and Global Communications Management as course director. During my time as course director I developed the Professional Practice module, placed an emphasis on social listening and digital reseach methods, as well as bringing in crisis communications workshops.
I currently work across other areas of the school, teaching at both postgraduate and at undergraduate level. Postgraduate teaching includes the Creative Management of Social and Digital Media, and the Practice and Theory of Digital Creativity, both core modules on the MA Creative and Cultural Industries. At undergraduate level I lead on the 2nd-year optional module: Fashion Futures: Technology, Innovation and Society. I am also a personal tutor and dissertation supervisor.

Biography
I joined the school in 2001 with over 15 years of professional experience in various forms of design (online and offline), visual communication and management. Amongst others, my professional experience covers magazine design and production at Regional Magazines, graphic design, branding and product development at Letraset Computer Graphics, management of design and production for the first online journals with Reed Elsevier and leading the Web Team and managing product launches for Reuters premium services (now Thomson Reuters).
Design, technology and digital innovation are common threads throughout my career. I consider myself privileged to have experienced, and at times taken the lead on, several digital-firsts - being trained by, and working at the cutting edge of design for, the first digital design agency in the UK and playing a key management role in the first online repository of e-books and articles. I continue to be interested in design and innovation.
