Overview
I'm an Academic & Clinical Lecturer with the Diagnostic Radiography team at Cardiff University, being the team lead for learning technology and simulation. I'm currently studying a part-time PhD at the School of Healthcare Sciences, and I have been awarded a Doctoral Fellowship by the College of Radiographers for this research on radiographer shift work and burnout.
My clinical role with Cardiff University is in partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board & NHS Wales, providing clinical education to radiographers within the Swansea region.
My academic teaching covers a variety of topics within the undergraduate and postgraduate Radiography courses at the School of Healthcare Science.
I'm a HCPC accredited Diagnostic Radiographer, Society of Radiographers Member, and member of the Association of Radiography Educators.

Research
I'm studying a PhD at the School of Healthcare Sciences, investigating the effects of working practice on Diagnostic Radiographers.
I'm interested in researching Radiographer and AHP resilience, shift work & error, and workforce optimisation. This includes a wider study of the Diagnostic Radiographer - from the perspective of other healthcare professionals, patients and the general public.
I'm also passionate about Learning Technology in Diagnostic Radiography; Nuclear Medicine.
Teaching
Diagnostic Radiography lecturer, teaching on a wide range of general and specialist radiography topics, including:
- General Radiography,
- Cardiovascular Imaging,
- Nuclear Medicine,
- Quality Assurance,
- Informatics and Learning Technology,
- Professional Practice.
Clinical Lectureship role currently involves direct support, supervision and assessment of Diagnostic Radiography students in clinical practice.
Biography
Former Radiographer & Senior Radiographer in NHS Wales 2005-2016 - rotating through general radiography, fluoroscopy, theatre, mobiles, cardiology/interventional & Nuclear Medicine (particularly Nuclear Cardiology).
A clinical mentor's role within my Local Health Board (and subsequent Practice Education accreditation with the Society and College of Radiographers) led to a Clinical Tutor secondment with Cardiff University in Spring 2015, overseeing clinical education in what is now Swansea Bay University Health Board. A full time dual role (Academic & Clinical Lecturer) with Cardiff University began in Autumn 2016, leading to completion of MSc(D) in Radiography at Cardiff. I also successfully completed work to register a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. I commenced my PhD research with the School of Healthcare Sciences in January 2022, and recieved a Doctoral Fellowship from the College of Radiographers for this work in the summer of 2023.
I am involved in technology and simulation in Diagnostic Radiography, including implementation of Learning Technologies, Simulation in 2D/3D (software & virtual reality, live equipment simulation) and managing the clinical ePortfolio. I teach on a variety of modules within both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
