Overview
I joined Cardiff Business School in 2011 and specialise in business planning, strategy, and marketing. I enjoy teaching both graduate and postgraduate students whilst encouraging them to apply their business knowledge to everyday business scenarios.
It is my belief that students should development both hard and soft transferable skills to prepare them for their future business careers. Business school students should not only be able to learn, digest and apply the business knowledge imparted to them during their studies but should also be empowered to apply these principles to daily business life, to coin a phrase: “walking the walk, not just talking the talk”!
I endeavour to integrate business knowledge into real life application. Indeed, my own management experience has taught me the importance of combining academic knowledge, in my case my MBA, into everyday business life. This experience enables me to educate students to become the managers and business leaders of our future generations.
I encourage students to undertake career changing opportunities during their studies whenever possible, including live projects with organisations. These provide authentic business scenarios to apply their taught knowledge. Additionally, by carrying out live business projects, in particular third sector projects, students experience the significance of Cardiff Business Schools’ Public Value mission through supporting local and national charities and communities.

Biography
After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I moved to Japan to study for one year. On my return, I joined an engineering company as a Purchasing Manager. During the next 17 years I undertook a number of roles including Quality Manager and Financial Director. During this period, I returned to university to study an MBA at Cardiff Business School to enhance my management knowledge.
In the early 2000s, I undertook a career change which eventually saw me entering academia, initially teaching part-time in a number of local universities before I joined Cardiff University/Cardiff Business School in 2011. Since I started at Cardiff Business School, I have carried out dual roles: firstly, as a lecturer in Marketing and Strategy specialising in business planning and secondly, as the MBA Programme Manager and most recently as the MBM Course Director.
