Overview
I joined Cardiff School of Law and Politics as a Welsh-medium lecturer in 2017, after previously being employed as a tutor by the School. I teach on three undergraduate modules, Family Law, Equity and Trusts and Criminal Law and I am the Welsh-medium tutor for both Equity and Trusts and Criminal Law. I have also been the sole module leader for Equity and Trusts since September 2019.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and am also an Associate Lecturer of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
My research interests primarily lie in family law. I was awarded my PhD in 2017, entitled ‘From ‘form’ to function and back again: a comparative analysis of form-based and function-based recognition of adult relationships in law.’ This was a theoretical study exploring the mechanisms used by the law to recognise different relationships between adults (including both couple and non-couple relationships), which compares the situation in England and Wales with the Australian position. The research was funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol’s Research Scholarships Scheme, and was supervised by Dr Leanne Smith and Professor Gillian Douglas. Prior to this, I completed an LLM in Governance and Devolution at Cardiff University (distinction) and an LLB at Bangor University (first class honours).
