Overview

I am a postdoctoral Research Associate in the Neuromechanics Research Group and the Research Centre for Clinical Kinesiology, within the School of Healthcare Sciences. I am currently working on a Parkinson's UK-funded project led by Dr Jen Davies, investigating freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease.

I hold a PhD in Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Kent. My research interests centre on investigating the human motor and somatosensory systems. In particular, I am interested in:

  • Motor and somatosensory functioning in health and disease
  • The neurophysiology of pain and touch
  • Interactions between the somatosensory and motor systems
  • Neurophysiological and cognitive mechanisms governing perception, movement and action
  • Multisensory integration in body representation

I have particular expertise in investigating these areas using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), combined with psychophysics, psychophysiological and behavioural experimentation, as well as methods including electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
