Biography

Currently a Senior Lecturer specialising in magnetic materials and their industrial applications. Industry liaison Lead for EEE section of Cardiff School of Engineering and member of the School's Industrial Advisory Board.

Previously CTO for a spin-out which developed the first permanent magnet biased fault current limiter for application in the electrical distribution grid, requiring no auxillary power, cooling or significant maintenance, successfull tested at KEMA's power laboratories in Arnham, Netherlands and suitable for a fit-and forget installation.

Career commenced as a Teaching Company Associate (now known as KTP Associate) in the electrical steel industry, leading to a PhD in mganetic detection of latent resident stresses in non-oriented electrical steels, and a period engaged in the company's magnetic measurements standards laboratory and various industry research projects.  Followed by engagement with Cardiff University Wolfson Centre for Magnetics as Industrial Project Manager and Commercial Manager of the Centre of Excellence funded by Welsh Government and later framework agreements with the electrical steel industry in the UK and Europe.
