Technical

I specialise in the end-to-end design and implementation of instruments for astronomy and Earth Observation applications. In particular, instruments working at far-infrared and sub-mm wavelengths. I have more recently applied technologies developed for sub-mm astronomy to Earth Observation applications in climatology and meteorology.

Astronomy

Understanding the earliest stages of star formation.

The search for evidence of primordial gravitational waves from inflation, using precision polarimetric observations.

Earth Observation

Understanding the role of ice clouds in the global climate system. Development of novel instrumentation to observe high-altitude cirrus and constrain parameters in global climate models. Novel instrumentation for next-generation microwave sounders for atmospheric temperature and water vapour profiling.
