I am the Director of Scholarship at the School of Law and Politics and module leader for both Criminal Litigation and Conference Skills on the Bar Training Course. I am also Joint Module Lead for Crime, Law and Society on the LLB.

BA (Hons) Law Cantab, MA Criminology Toronto. Barrister (non-practising).

After practising as a Barrister for many years, I joined the staff at the Centre for Professional Legal Studies in 2014.

Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I studied Law at Cambridge University then obtained my Master’s degree in Criminology from the University of Toronto as a Commonwealth Scholar. I returned from Canada to qualify for the Bar at the Inns of Court School of Law and was subsequently called to the Bar.

I specialised in criminal work, first in pupillages in specialist sets in London, then as a tenant at 33 Park Place and then as a member of Apex Chambers, the first specialist criminal set on the Wales and Chester Circuit.

I have been accredited as an Advocacy trainer by the Advocacy Training Council and Bar Standards Board, am an External Examiner and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My scholarship interests focus on criminal justice, skills teaching, client communication, and assessment methods.
