Overview
I have been qualified as a Diagnostic Radiographer for over 10 years, with areas of expertise in Computed Tomography (CT), Forensic Radiography and Leadership and Management in Education. I am a Senior Fellow and current Programme Lead for the Undergraduate Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging Programme here at Cardiff University. I am also a part-time PhD student in which my project is exploring how Radiography departments in Wales are implementing innovative workforce models within normal radiographic practice to overcome the challenges faced by the profession.

Research
PhD
I am currently a part time PhD student within the School of Healthcare Sciences in Cardiff University. I have an interest in leadership and management within Education and Diagnostic Radiography, the workforce, division of labour, professional identity and how innovations (such as Advanced Practice) are implemented across Radiography departments. This led me to my PhD thesis title:
How are Radiography Departments in Wales Implementing Innovative Workforce Models within Normal Radiographic Practice to Overcome the Workforce and Imaging Demand Challenges faced by the Profession?
Within this study, I am exploring three case studies, each being a different advanced practice innovation introduced to aid in the workforce and imaging demands within the Radiography department. This is important work as it aims to identify the drivers, facilitators and barriers to the changes, role development, the division of labour and the effects on the ecology of the department, so that wider learning across further radiography departments and other healthcare professions can be obtained.
Whilst this project is still ongoing, I hope to have completed by December 2026.
