Overview

I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Management, Employment & Organisation section at Cardiff Business School.

My research focuses on understanding organisational strategies within market (economic) and non-market (political) domains. I explore how multinational corporations (MNCs) and Trade Associations (TA) work to alter institutions in Emerging Markets (EMs), where economic and political idiosyncrasies challenge Western-held management practices. More recently my focus also included industrial lobbying at EU level. To date, my research has been published in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals, such as Studies in Higher Education, European Management Review, and Journal of Professions and Organization. My research projects have been financed by Northern Ireland’s Department for Education (project “Multinationals, Institutions and Agency: A study of the Russian Pharmaceutical Sector”); recognized as the best paper by the Global Strategy division at Academy of Management in 2022 (paper - “The role of field positions in MNE agency: managing uncertainty in Emerging Markets during economic and political decoupling”). Before academia, I was working in logistics and supply chain management functions for Nortel and Avaya in Northern Ireland.
