Overview
I am a recent addition to SHARE's postgraduate research team, currently building my thesis in a collaboration with both SHARE and ENCAP to study the portrayal of various ideologies within alternative history video games, with a focus on various role-playing game (RPG) franchises as case studies. These include the Fallout franchise (1997-), Disco Elysium (2019), Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (2001), Tyranny (2016), Cyberpunk 2077 (2020) and the Bioshock franchise (2007-2013). Through this I seek to understand how ideology is conveyed through speech and gameplay, and how this enables a user to engage with these concepts as both a reader and a participant.
