My research employs doctrinal legal analysis to examine regulatory frameworks, a comparative legal method to explore how different jurisdictions (EU, USA, UK) balance inovation and regulation, and socio-legal approach that situates these issues in their broader technological and policy contexts, with a strong emphasis on ethics and human / consumer rights.

I have a professinal background spanning both the maritime industry and academia. For ten years, I worked as an in-house legal advisor in the maritime sector, specialising in commercial law, contract law, international trade law, marine insurance, carriage of goods by sea, ship sale and purchase, safety management & quality, and ADR.
In 2008, I entered academia and joined the City Law School, City University of London (now City St George's, University of London), where I spent a further decade as LL.M Programme Director and Lecturer in Law. During this time, I designed and led modules, including Medical Law & Bioethics; CILEX Tort; International Trade Law, and also taught on Tort, Contract Law, and Carriage of Goods by Sea. Additionally, I was Ph.D supervisor, led the Staff Research Seminars, and organised the annual Maritime Law Symposia, attracting up to 300 participants, with speakers from academia and industry.
In 2021, I was a researcher at the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats based in Finland, focusing on cybersecurity, hybrid threats, and maritime law, where I served as the lead presenter at conferences and roundtable discussions with EU and NATO delegates. Working alongside a team of cybersecurity and insurance specialists, we identified critical vulnerabilities in the maritime sector, impacting industry practice by promoting relevant recommendations. The working paper I authored was subsequently presented at the UN General Assembly's Ocean Security Dialogue in New York.
In 2022, I joined Cardiff University where I have taught across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, led the Research Lecture Series, and currently serve as Year 1 LL.B Lead.
Overall, alongside my commercial law background, I examine contemporary developments in Cybersecurity and AI Ethics & Law, motivated by the challenges and opportunities emerging from current technological trends. I have also developed a particular interest in Bioethics and the Governance of Abortion, driven by a commitment to fostering social awareness and infomred public debate.
I have extensive links with industry, securing collaborations between academia and industry, with organisations including Lloyd's Register, the Laskaridis Foundation and the Evgenidis Foundation. My external engagements have included invited talks and chairing events such as ELSA summer school 2015, City University International Postgraduate Research Conference 2014, European Conference on Shipping, Intermodalism & Ports 2011.
My community and wider participation has included the positions of president of the parents association of primary school, parent governor and equality & diversity champion of secondary school, as well member of the school committee, the social care committee, and the environment working group of local authority.
