Overview
I am a PhD candidate in Economics at Cardiff University, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) in collaboration with the Office of Manpower Economics. My research is in Labour Economics, with a specific focus on the Gender Pay Gap (GPG) in the United Kingdom labour market.
My thesis investigates employer-level differences in the GPG across Britain's public and private sectors, exploring the structural and organisational factors contributing to sectoral disparities. A key part of my analysis examines the influence of female representation at the board level and how firm-level financial indicators relate to pay inequality outcomes.
Before my PhD, I completed an MSc and MRes in Economics at Cardiff University, where I developed strong foundations in quantitative methods and applied econometrics. Since 2023, I have also worked as a Graduate Tutor in the Economics Department, delivering seminars and tutorials across a range of undergraduate modules, including Introductory Econometrics (Year 2), Microeconomics (Year 1), Macroeconomics (Year 2), and International Trade (Year 3).
My research contributes to understanding workplace inequality and supports evidence-based policymaking through its close alignment with labour market institutions and employer practices.
My supervisory team are Professor Melanie Jones and Dr. Ezgi Kaya.
