Teams and roles for Anton Kutyrev

Overview

Anton Kutyrev is a Research Associate at the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Cardiff University, specializing in the study of platinum-group elements (PGE) and mineralization in layered intrusions. He completed his Ph.D. at the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology in Russia, focusing on platinum mineralization and geochemistry in ultramafic complexes. Before joining Cardiff University, Anton held a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Oregon, where he investigated Eoarchean climate using triple oxygen isotopes. His research spans a wide range of topics, including PGE mineralization, island arc magmatism, layered intrusions, and the climate conditions during the early Archean.

Biography

Anton Kutyrev is a Research Associate at Cardiff University's School of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Since 2023, he has been working on the SEMACRET project, investigating platinum-group element (PGE) mineralization in layered intrusions in Finland, and conducting a complete mass balance evaluation of these geological structures. His research also includes the study of layered intrusions in Wales and advanced mineralogical analysis of PGEs using synchrotron radiation.

Prior to joining Cardiff University, from 2022 to 2023, Anton held a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Oregon, where he explored Eoarchean climate through triple oxygen isotope analysis, as well as the alteration of mafic and ultramafic rocks. His research also involved numerical modeling of isotope behavior during water-rock interactions.

From 2020 to 2022, Anton was a Research Associate at the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, where his work focused on PGE mineralogy, the behavior of PGEs in hydrothermal systems, and the geological history of Late Cretaceous arc terranes. During this time, he also discovered new mineral species and contributed to studies on Pd mineralization in copper-porphyry deposits.

Anton earned his Ph.D. at the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology in 2019, with research centered on platinum mineralization and geochemistry in ultramafic complexes. Before that, he worked part-time as an engineer at the Karpinsky Geological Institute while completing his studies at St. Petersburg Mining University.
