Biography
On Completion of my undergraduate studies at Cardiff University Dental School, I gained my BSc (Hons) degree in 2016.
My commitment and contribution within Dentistry, specifically Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene was recognised by receiving the following awards in 2016;
- - Cardiff University & BSDHT Professionalism Prize
- Cardiff University & Johnsons and Johnson Clinical BSc Prize
Following from this I joined the ABUHB CDS service (2016-2023), treating complex care patients over a variety of specialities. These included Paediatric, Special Care, Domiciliary (including Mobile Dental unit) and Sedation services (inhalation). During my time here, I was involved in the facilitation of Direct Access of Dental Therapists, successfully reporting implementation and integration.
During my time with ABUHB, I also gained further qualifications.
- Certificate in Inhalation Sedation (ABUHB)
- Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management (HEIW)
Within this time period, I was Enrolled in the SENIOR Research project for domiciliary care and additionally the paediatric CALM trial within south wales, UK. However, due to the migration of job roles, I was unable to continue with participation.
Now, joining the Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene lecturing staff as a Clinical and Academic Lecturer at the University, I am looking forward to delving into the education and scholarship world of Dentistry.
My vision is to include three particulars. Firstly expanding personal skills / credentials in both dentistry and pedagogy. The second; to enhance and develop integration and education of Dental Therapists and Dental Hygienists throughout undergraduate learning. Thirdly; to increase the profile /prevalence of Cardiff University school of Dentistry and the Dental Therapy profession, both within the United Kingdom and Internationally.
