Overview
I am a PhD student fascinated with the Arctic. There's much mystery surrounding the region. Many states with interests that are sometimes contradicting, a large share of the world's natural resouces beneath the surface, and most importantly there are many people that live there that are most impacted by the changing nature of the region.
I am attempting to understand how states understand the Arctic so that we can better understand the relationships between states going forward. Re-conceptualising and re-spatialising the Arctic region to better reflect the interests and intentions of some of the world's biggest geopolitical actors should provide a better picture of Arctic relations that reflects its position in international relations.
