I am a Research Associate at CASCADE, currently working on the evaluation of the Basic Income for Care Leavers Pilot.

Originally from Pembrokeshire, I moved to Cardiff to study English Literature at Cardiff University. After graduating, I worked in housing in Cardiff Council before winning ESRC Open Competition funding for an MA and PhD in Language and Communication Research. My thesis examined the discourse of UK-based charitable giving, in focus group and mass media data.

Since my PhD, I have worked on several research projects, including the representation of devolved politics in the news, and non-scripted talk in nursing handovers. I worked in the Civil Service from 2018-2021.

My research interests include the effectiveness of interventions targeted at vulnerable populations, the third sector, and the discourse of nationalism.

I have taught English Language from access course to postgraduate level in a number of universities and am a doctoral supervisor at UWTSD.
