Biography
I gained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) with commendation from Dundee University in 2015. During my time at university I took the opportunity to intercalate and graduated with an Upper Class Second Honours degree in Neuroscience in 2012 and I received the John Sturrock Memorial Prize for the best research report by an undergraduate student that year.
After qualifying as a dentist and completing my Foundation training in General Practice I went on to Dental Core Training. This allowed me to gain experience in a variety of specialities including Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Special Care and Maxillofacial & Oral Surgery.
I have also worked as a Professional Practice Fellow at the University of Otago where I was able to develop as a clinical educator and develop my research skills by working with the Public Health team.
On my return to the UK I worked within the Paediatric Department at the University of Bristol where I was involved with the delivery of the undergraduate BDS course as well as NHS service provision.
Prior to my role at Cardiff University, I completed examinations to become a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. I have also gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical and Health Education from the University of Manchester in 2021 and completed the HEA Fellowship (FHEA) in 2023.
