Research interests

My research interests are in the professional and legal aspects of architecture and building procurement, both in the UK and internationally. As well as being a qualified and practicing architect, I also have a post-graduate law degree, and specialise in design liability and construction contract law.

I have published extensively, in total over 25 books, including the fifth edition of Cornes and Lupton's Design Liability in Construction, published in 2013 by Wiley-Blackwell, a series of books on JCT standard forms of contract building (all re-published in 2016-17 as fourth editions), a book on the RIBA Concise and Domestic Building Contracts (second edition, 2018) and the fourth edition of Which Contract?. I am currently working on a sixth edition of Design Liability in Construction, and a sixth edition of Which Contract?.

I contribute regularly to the International Construction Law Review and have contributed several chapters to The Architect's Legal Handbook.
