Overview
I am a 2nd Year part-time PhD student in the English Literature Department at Cardiff University. My thesis will provide a thematic analysis of popular genre-focussed webnovels such as John C. McCrae’s Worm (2011-2013), Cuttlefish That Loves Diving’s Lord of Mysteries (2018-2020), and Pirateaba’s The Wandering Inn (2016-). The aim of this project is to frame these webnovels within academic analysis in order to establish their inherent value as a form of modern ‘born-digital’ literature.
My MA Dissertation titled 'Digital Narratives: Modern Alternatives to the Traditional Novel' explored the various ways in which the digital age has impacted how we engage with literature by examining how the digital breaks away from past literary traditions.
I am currently interested in webfiction, digital culture, fan-culture, the relationship between authors and their readers and print culture.
