Overview
I work in the Centre for Medical Education here at Cardiff University School of Medicine. I have held a variety of roles within medical education and am currently Director for Year 3 of the MBBCh. This is the first year of Phase 2 of the undergraduate medicine curriculum where students spend a large proportion of their time learning whilst on placement in clinical environments.
I am a scientist with a research background and a particular interest in the immune system and its involvment in chronic inflammatory disease. Much of my previous research focused on the role of white blood cells (neutrophils and macrophages) in airway diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis. My passion for immunology and its interface with human disease continues in my various roles within the Centre for Medical Education.
I am lead for the Respiratory Medicine Case for our Year 1 students.
In addition to these roles, I undertake a range of teaching and assessment activity across the 5 year MBBCh curriculum and the BSc in Medical Pharmacology.
