Research and Information Governance Lead
Overview
Information and Research Governance Lead, BioResource Data Accelerator Project, Wales Gene Park, Department of Cancer and Genetics, School of Medicine.
Liz is the Information Governance Lead for the BioResource Data Accelerator Project, based within the Wales Gene Park located within the Genomics Facility in Cardiff Edge Business Park. The BioResource Data Accelerator project brings together academic colleagues within Cardiff University (Genomics Partnership Wales, Cardiff ECMC, Wales Cancer Biobank and the Centre for Trials Research amongst others), with healthcare providers including Velindre NHS Trust and Cardiff and Vale UHB NHS Trust to deliver on a number of novel project exemplars linking genomic data for research.
With a background of 15+ years as Quality Assurance Manager in Clinical Trials, and internal audit, Liz brings expertise in legal and regulatory compliance in the areas of research ethics and data stewardshipacoross the entire research lifecycle, from the inception of a resaerch idea, through data collection, and analysis and finally to data archival and onward use. Liz has extensive experience in Quality Assurance within clinical trials, having led on internal audit, risk management and data quality.
Liz provides specialist support to overcome current barriers to data sharing and has a particular interest in nurturing robust and transparent environments which enable compliant research practices.
Liz is also involved with a number of national data groups including ECMC, Elixir-UK’s Human Data and DARE-UK and locally, together with colleagues in the Digital Transformation Innovation Institute to deliver on the DTII's healthcare strategy.
