Overview
I am a PhD Candidate in Economics at Cardiff Business School, supervised by Professor Engin Kara. My research focuses on inflation dynamics, monetary policy, and structural macroeconomic modeling, with particular emphasis on multi-sector New Keynesian DSGE frameworks, trend inflation, and input–output transmission mechanisms. I study how persistent inflation and heterogeneous production structures shape aggregation, inflation persistence, monetary-policy trade-offs, and determinacy under positive trend inflation environments.
Previously, I completed two full years of PhD Economics coursework at the University of California, Riverside, and undertook visiting Ph.D. research engagement with economics programs at Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I also studied Economic Policy Management at Columbia University, New York. At these institutions, I studied and researched under leading economists including Geoffrey M. Heal, Kenneth D. West, and Eswar Prasad. Alongside my academic work, I also taught undergraduate economics courses at University of California Riverside and accepted a contract for a full-time Lectureship in Economics at Fordham University, New York, United States.
Research
My research interests include Monetary Economics; Inflation Dynamics; Trend Inflation; International Macroeconomics; Empirical Macroeconomics; Time Series Econometrics.

Biography
Arvind Misra is a Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. His research focuses on inflation dynamics, monetary policy, and structural macroeconomic modeling, with particular emphasis on trend inflation, nominal rigidities, and New Keynesian DSGE frameworks.
His doctoral dissertation, Macroeconomics of Sectoral Trend Inflation, develops multi-sector New Keynesian models with heterogeneous trend inflation and input–output transmission mechanisms to study aggregation, inflation persistence, and monetary-policy trade-offs under positive trend inflation environments. His current research combines theoretical DSGE modeling with empirical evidence from recent Euro-area inflation divergence and energy-price transmission episodes.
Before joining Cardiff University, he completed two years of Ph.D. Economics coursework at the University of California, Riverside, and undertook visiting Ph.D. research engagement with economics programs at Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He also studied Economic Policy Management at Columbia University in New York.
He previously taught undergraduate courses in economics at the University of California, Riverside, and also accepted a full-time Lectureship in Economics to teach Statistical Decision Making I and II at Fordham University, New York. His broader policy-oriented research experience includes projects associated with institutions such as NITI Aayog, the Ministry of Commerce (Government of India), the Indian Institutes of Management Ahmedabad and Lucknow, and the Department of Management Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
