Overview

I first joined Cardiff University in 2009 as an AHRC-funded doctoral student, and was awarded a PhD in the cultural memory of the Algerian War of Independence. I taught, lectured and developed an interest in quality assurance working as a reviewer with the QAA. I subsequently moved into roles in professional services supporting education and the student experience, and I have worked at a School, College and Central level. Between 2018-2022, I led teams responsible for Student Casework, Student Voice and Academic Policy at UWE Bristol. 

Since returning to Cardiff in 2022, I have helped establish and lead a new Education Development Service in the Learning and Teaching Academy, and I am currently a Senior Education Developer. I maintain an active interest in:

• constructivist approaches to programme and module design, 
• fostering student wellbeing within and through curricula, 
• how generative AI is transforming teaching and assessment,
• the pedagogy of transnational education, and
• the development and oversight of academic regulations and policy. 

Outside of my work at the University, I have leadership roles across two school governing boards in Bristol, specialising in support for pupils with special educational needs.
