Overview
I am a lecturer and researcher at the School of Computer Science and Informatics, specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP). Prior to my career in NLP I studied Public Relations and Social Responsibility and worked for 10+ years in communication, especially within the non-profit sector.
My PhD focused on the automatic detection of Patronizing and Condescending Langauge towards vulnerable communities. Since then, I have specialized in (subtle) bias, microaggressions and discrimination detection both through and within NLP models.
My main research topics are applications for Natural Language Processing (NLP), NLP for social impact and Responsible AI.
