Overview
Professor Rhys Pullin is Director of Engagement at Cardiff University’s School of Engineering and a leading expert in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). His research focuses on Acoustic Emission (AE), Acousto-Ultrasonics (AU), and Audible Acoustics (AA) in metallic, composite, and biomedical structures. He served as Action Chair for the EU COST Action CA18203 – Optimised Design for Inspection (ODIN), a 27-country network advancing AE-based SHM systems for aerospace. Professor Pullin has led major research programmes for Airbus, Boeing, EADS, Mercedes F1, the UK Ministry of Defence, Centre for Defence Enterprise, and SKF. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
