Andrea Risoli Lecturer, Centre for Professional Legal Studies | Bar Training Course Programme Coordinator Cardiff University

Andrea Risoli is a Lecturer on the Teaching and Scholarship pathway at Cardiff University's Centre for Professional Legal Studies (CPLS), where he teaches across the Bar Training Course (BTC) and leads the Opinion Writing, Legal Research, and Civil Advocacy modules. He serves as BTC Programme Coordinator.

Andrea brings over 25 years of civil litigation experience to his teaching. He qualified as a solicitor in 1999, training at Clarke Willmott in Bristol, before being called to the Bar in 2005. He went on to practise at the Bar for seventeen years, first at Old Square Chambers and subsequently at Doughty Street Chambers, both in London, before returning to Cardiff to teach. Andrea was ranked annually as a leading barrister in both The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

At the Bar, Andrea acted extensively for national legal expenses insurers and trade unions in high-value, complex personal injury claims before the High Court, working closely with leading UK expert witnesses in medicine, engineering, and accounting. His practice included involvement in a number of nationally reported cases, including Article 2 prisoner suicide inquests, multiple fatality accidents, CICA appeals relating to serious sexual assaults, and catastrophic injury claims involving brain, spinal, psychiatric, amputation and other orthopaedic trauma arising from industrial accidents and road traffic collisions.
