Research
Research interests
Andrew's academic interests are in understanding Architectural Education, particularly in terms of how students learn to become architects. He is supervisor to a number of Ph.D students looking at issues such as assessment processes, approaches to learning and the cultural aspects of architectural education around the world. His own research has looked into the individual learning styles of architectural students, and the importance of encouraging reflective practice as part of architectural education, particularly during times of workplace experience.
He is currently looking at how graduate attributes can be built into programmes, and how they are assessed. Of particular interest is what students become as a result of their education.
Main expertise
Architectural Education: how students learn to become architects, how they develop value sets.
Teaching
Teaching profile
Lecturer in Practice Management and Economics, focussing on how aspects of Economics and Value influence architectural design.
